Techknow Tuesday - Proper Stickering

Displaying: 1 of 1

Everybody knows that a snowboarder is only as good as their sticker job...

Maybe that’s not really true, but one of the most fun parts of getting a new board is laying out your stickers. Everyone has their own style and method, but here are a few tips to hopefully get you going in the right direction. Make sure you read the whole thing though cause there could be a cool contest that has something to do with this.

First off, if your board came with a Get Lifted sticker make sure to save it- it's good for a FREE lift ticket at a whole bunch of resorts all over the US and Canada. Click here and learn the details on getting lifted, and which of those resorts are closest to you.

Anyway, first thing you want to do is get everything you’ll need to be successful with your stickering

  1. Brand stickers- if you can get di-cuts cool, if not anything will do, but just like you wouldn’t put a ford sticker on your chevy- no hooger booger stickers on your barefoot
  2. Accents- get some small stickers, for like, you know, accents
  3. Random weird stickers- get some old stickers, a sticker for your crew, maybe something for your favorite mag or film crew whatever
  4. Exacto knife
  5. Marker
  6. Campaign- keep everybody happy with these
  7. Bindings- for lining things up
  8. Snowboard- duh

Next thing you want to do is make a plan. Don’t just go peeling stickers, place your bindings where you think they should go, and try a few options for what should go where. Cut up stickers to fully dial in placement

Whatever you do, don’t do that.

Once you figure out your basic layout, start sticking. If you are layering any stickers, make sure you get your order right.

If you are putting something over your Channel or inserts anywhere, make sure to plan accordingly. It can be the stickering equivalent of painting yourself into a corner- so pull out plugs or put in screws or whatever you have to do.

That pumpkin sticker is a really cheap paper sticker that arrived in the mail, but its really cool and very festive for this time of year. If you use something like this you can put clear packing tape over it so it lasts longer, or don’t, whatever.

Finally the last step is to marker in anything that needs to be markered or get some paint pens and go crazy.

So there it is, a perfect sticker job. Wait, what? You don't think that was a perfect job and you can do way better? Prove it. Put up some pictures of your sticker job, could be from this year, last year, next year whatever, just post it to your profile here on The Community, and then leave a link to it in the comments of this (or any now read this post). A month from today (November 3rd) we will pick a winner and they'll get this brand new Custom V-Rocker 151 stickers and all.

A final little piece of information for everyone, and just as exciting as winning a new board, we got to the bottom of the adapter cables for the 2009 to 2010 Therm-Ic heaters we were talking about last week, and you can get the cable by calling Rider Service here at (800) 881-3138. Word?

Misty Nug: The largest sticker ever was 47,000 square feet.
