Throwback Thursday - 2009
|
It was just like a year ago that 2009 seemed all fresh and new.

Now, as we are nearing our entry into 2010, 2009 seems like an old friend. Shoot there were some good times this past year. We (sort of) listed out 13 of the more memorably things that happened in the last 12 months, so uh... enjoy these few moments, and feel free to share the best parts about your last year in the comments.
Like a few people brought up on Tuesday, the biggest thing to happen this year was the double cork. The trick itself has been around since Mike Michalchuck was doing them like 10 years ago, but this year pretty much every pro, am, and rep rider worth their weight in die cuts was going double. Everyone knows the story about Shaun and Silverton and the New Zealand Open and everything, but yea… that pretty much changed everything and made everyone forget about switch back 12s really quick.

Speaking of ssbs12's, remember when Mikkel got shafted with text message voting last year at the x-games. Kind of a bummer, but it seemed like a big deal at the time so, yea dont forget about that.

Love them or hate them, when Jeremy started doing those shuv-its (or cheese burgers or weed wackers or whatever we decided the name was) it was pretty cool. Sure it had been done quite a few times before, but never really in the environment that Jeremy took it to. So yea, thats something to remember from last year.

From urban spots to AK- Keegan further proved that he is much more than a rail kid by taking his first trip to Alaska this past season. Check out some of his lines in "The B" pretty wild. Expect big things from Keegan in 2010.

The B was obviously a big deal. It was the biggest thing Gunny or anyone at Snow Park Technologies had ever even thought about building, and was the focal point for the Burton movie this year, "The B." Definitely worth remembering.

Lots of contest victories, and series wins from heaps of our team riders. Shaun, Danny, Mason, Kevin, Mikkel, Charles, Kelly, Ellery, and Spencer all had some pretty amazing moments last year so uh... yea... lets hope they keep doing that in 2010 (technically we are at 13 memorable things now so).

Anyway, so much more stuff happened last year that we should probably mention here, but maybe its best to just go party now... not much time left to do that this year so...

Mikkel got robbed big time. It was a popularity contest. Texting voting nearly always is. It should've been a percentage of text votes combined with with a percentage of judges scores. If they ever do that again maybe they'll realize that.
