Techknow Tuesday - Board of Beers
Every resort town bar and college frat probably has some lame old “shot ski,” but we’re trying to change that.

You are probably already blown away by the photo of the “Board of Beers” but to truly grasp how cool it is, you need to know the whole story, which begins very close to Burton’s heart- Stowe, Vermont. More specifically The Shed Restaurant and Brewery on Mountain Road. As the name would imply, in addition to being a restaurant and bar, The Shed is also a brewery, and has a few very nice beers. People always want to try all the beers, but sometimes, drinking six beers after riding all day can be trouble. To help with this, long ago the owner of The Shed, Lenny, created the “ski of beers.” For years this was all the rage at The Shed, it was a ski with six sample-size beers on it. Pretty cool, but there was a huge limiting factor- it was a ski.

Fast-forward a few decades to last spring. Jake (Burton) was at The Shed enjoying a nice après drink when an idea came to him, “why not make a board of beers?” Over the summer we threw around a few ideas, tried a couple things, and ended up with what you see here- a scaled version of an 84 Performer with holders for six sample size beers. Each board was hand made at BMC, our factory up here in Vermont, and not to claim or anything, but they came out AWESOME. Click through the photos above to see the process of how they went from un-cut skateboard blanks to beer carrying masterpieces. Very cool. Stay tuned for some action shots with the Board of Beers coming soon.

Next time you're in Stowe, stop by The Shed, say what’s up to Lenny, and get a couple… uh… boards of beers.
Misty Nug: When you go to The Shed, get the pulled pork sandwich, its good.

Next up, you'll tell us that you're R&D'ing the ICS (Ice Cold Specialty) Beer Board on a mini-Custom utilizing the channel!
Anyway, I'm sure the beer just tastes better on a Board of Beers than the ski. Great idea yall!

Those are awesome. I'd love to get one in Maine.
I'm sure the guy that owns The Matterhorn at Sunday River ( named best ski bar in USA by Powder) would love to have one of those for the bar. I'd be happy to drop one of those off. Good publicity.
Let me know.

Those are awesome! Nice work Jake, good idea! I have the full size performer on the wall above the boots and bindings in my shop here in Beaverton Oregon. If you want you can tell Jeff Burga he can make one and bring it back with him next time he comes out west for a visit:)
