Travelin' Tuesday - Preparing for a trip prt. 1

Displaying: 1 of 1

This could be a guide on how to pack, or a conglomeration of traveling tips from people that travel a lot, but instead its going to be more than that, like way more.

Whether you are going to a super far away place that you have never been to, or just making your annual pilgrimage to that one mountain that is just a little further than your home mountain, its important to be prepared.  Prepared can mean different things dependent on where you are going and who you are with so this is less about like what to pack and stuff and more about just like how to have the best trip ever.

First thing first, even though we just said we weren’t going to tell you what to pack, no matter where your trip is taking you make sure you have your snowboard (and all related accessories), a bathing suit, and a tooth brush. Each of those should be pretty self explanatory (snowboarding, chicks/hot tub/teeth), and outside of that the sky is the limit as to what you bring- but just remember that the more you bring, the more you could loose, plus “traveling” provides the perfect excuse, and reason, to wear the same thing for weeks on end, or to do all sorts of things that would normally be considered socially unacceptable.

Not socially unacceptable like going around naked or swearing at old ladies, but like a more fun type of socially unacceptable. Before your trip, everyone who is going needs to make a pact to do something. You can make your pact about whatever you want, but some good starting points are like- everyone has to grow mustaches for the whole trip, or no one can wash their hair, or like you have to wear the same white shirt for the whole trip or something. This way, even if the snow sucks, you can make fun of your friends funny looking mustache, or laugh at that coffee stain on your shirt that looks like a dog.

There is a whole lot more that you can do to ensure you have an awesome trip, but we’re going to save that for another Travel’in Tuesday (don’t worry, you can have an awesome trip without knowing whatever else we are going to tell you so…).  But hey, while you are here, check out Mikey Rencz’s part from Transworld’s latest movie “Get Real.” Mikey doesn't really usually travel very far from his home in Whistler (for good reason) but uh... he's got the mustache thing down pretty good anyway.

We are announcing pretty cool contest tomorrow too, so make sure you check back for that.

Misty Nug: The longest time ever spent in a sub zero ice cube (?) was 64 hours.

David Blaine was frozen in ice for 62 hours and he had a funny looking mustache by the end of it too.

I'm traveling tonight to Jay Peak, where the beer flows like wine and the women flock like the salmon of Capistrano. Oh wait, that was Aspen. Jay Peak, where the the Pabst is on tap and snow is balls deep!

  • SnowSun 7 months ago

OB1, it looks like a Fix 162 - but in an inverted colorway.  Use the force wisely, and pause the vid at 2:24.

Beef jerky.  Red Bull.  Remember when you had to use mapquest to print out directions and shit? Now you just need an iphone. Camera (or, I guess just an iphone for that too.)  Tons upon tons of good music to choose from. . . bonus points if you actually still use CDs, otherwise an ipod will do just fine (or an iphone).  As I write this list of things you need for a good shreddy road trip, I'm starting to just think of all the possible uses for an iphone while on such a trip.  Weather forecast?  Iphone.  I bet there's some type of trick-tips app so you can use your iphone to really up your shred game too!  Actually, once Shaun White snowboarding gets released next year for iphone, you can play that for the entire car ride. Wait, why even go snowboarding if you got an iphone?  You can just sit around and snowboard on your iphone from the comfort of your own dungeon.  Man, I miss the old days!
