Throwback Thursday - Thoughts go out to Mike Jacoby
Last week, snowboard legend Mike Jacoby suffered a head injury while mountain biking in Hood River, Oregon.

Jacoby is a two time world champ (in 1995 and 1996), an Olympian, the inventor of the J-Tear, and really an over all awesome guy. Check out his part from Burton's 1989 movie "Chill" above, then send some positive vibes his way for a quick and full recovery.

Misty Nug: Jacoby was world champ in 1995 for Giant Slalom, that same year Lael Gregory was world champ for Halfpipe.

Part of a well balanced week of Burton blog posts, officially known as "Now Read This,"
Throwback Thursday is a little piece of snowboard history.

Mike Jacoby (the Joker) is an amazing athlete, a great freestyle and alpine snowboarder, an awesome coach, and he has inspired thousands of riders. He is also one of the nicest guys I have ever met.
Mike, I hope you are feeling better and have a full and quick recovery!
To Jake, JG, and everyone else at Burton – thank you for posting this and gathering awareness and support for Mike.
Best wishes,
Don Richter

So many friends from around the world are praying and sending positive energy Mike's way , it is representative of what a super guy Mike is. Surgery today on the broken jaw. He is more awake each day. It may be a long road he is on, but Mike is BACK and we know he will go big!! Wishing you the best Mike. You are the best!!

I've always been a huge fan of Mike Jacoby. I met him in 95' in the lobby of Keystone Resort where I worked at the time. The place didn't even alow our equipment on the mtn in 95'! Mike was training over at Copper. I thought I had met a rockstar and was completely ga-ga at meeting such an idol. He spent almost 30 minutes with me talking about boarding, his travels, etc. Thanks for taking the time Mike. You left a huge impression on me and I have a lot of respect for your riding and what you've done for boarding. Good luck and get better soon.
