Snowboard 4 Kids, Modena (Italy)
|
From 29 October to 1 November the “Skipass” tradeshow took place in Modena, Italy. Burton once again killed it at this consumer-facing tradeshow in all aspects.
The main project was “Snowboard 4 Kids”. In collaboration with the Modena Provincial School Office and the 6punto9 snowboard school literally hundreds of kids – including students from three local secondary schools - had the chance to make their first turns on a specifically built hill on the trade fair ground.
On Saturday afternoon, things turned rather bizarre: Burton riders Jack Mitrani and Kevin Pierce alongside Giacomo Kratter and his crew dressed in Halloween fashion as ghosts and invaded the kids’ slope screaming trick or treat. As if this wasn’t enough, Burton dominated much of the two contests on Friday and Saturday: Italian teamrider Manuel Pietropoli showed a frontside 720 crail that landed him on the podium of the Cimon Contest on Friday, and Stephan Maurer finished second in Saturday’s “Stomp It” with a huge double backflip, which also earned him victory in the “Highest Air” competition.
At the subsequent Snowbox Awards Giorgio Ciancaleoni won the title of best rookie for the second year in a row. The Burton River Jump event won the title of best international contest.
